A great comment came to my inbox:  "I think if you grow up religious you see divorce as just something you don't even have to think about. And if someone who is "Christian" does get divorced there is this tendency to sweep it away as something pretty simple (sin) and we don't really get to hear how and why and learn from others. 

As a friend then it can feel like you are grasping at straws when trying to be there for someone going through it because we don't get to the empathy part, we just have our fear and judgement of it. 

How can we be better supporters of those going through divorce?"
